Makers of fresh, frozen and shelf-stable foods now have a choice of microwave packaging technologies to set their brands apart.
Oshkosh, Wisconsin - October 16, 2006 - Four new steam-and-serve packaging technologies from Curwood, Inc., offer the ultimate in convenience cooking for fresh, frozen or shelf stable foods, from soups and stews to rice, veggies and entrees. Processors can choose the self-venting standup pouch, forming/non-forming film system, steam-in bag or skin-pack format to suit their products and operations.
A forming/non-forming film system is just one of four new Curwood technologies combining the benefits of steam cooking with enhanced user convenience.
Each of the four proprietary packaging systems makes preparing and serving foods simpler than ever before-no need for knives or scissors to vent or open the package; no cooking splatter; no messy handling; and no burns from captive steam. Consumers just microwave and serve. All four systems offer hermetic protection throughout distribution.
"Foods that are steamed stay more moist, flavorful and healthful compared to other cooking methods," says Aimee Johns, product manager at Curwood. "Now food processors can offer those quality benefits while giving consumers the convenience they demand."
Distinct advantages of Curwood's individual self-venting systems include:
- Standup pouch features a patented controlled-peel system, cool-zone handgrips, a high-profile retail presence and the ability to serve right from the pouch.
- Forming/non-forming film system controls steam release through stress venting, offers no-mess serving and can be printed with easy-opening and serving instructions.
- V/F/F/S cook-in bag offers Curwood's proprietary self-venting system, IntegraScore® easy opening feature and the ability to print with high-impact graphics for retail display.
- Skin-pack steam dome features skin-tight film that maximizes appearance and shelf life, expands for controlled-steam cooking and peels easily away for serving right from the tray.
Curwood's self-venting products are just a few among dozens of advanced technologies the company offers to help manufacturers meet the unique needs of their products and marketplaces.
