Oshkosh, Wisconsin - September 28, 2007 - BelGioioso Cheese of Denmark, Wisconsin, has been making award-winning, all-natural Italian cheeses since 1979-and now all of its sliced cheese varieties are available in new easy-open packaging from Curwood. The line of high-quality sliced cheeses has transitioned out of tear tape and into Curwood's Curpolene® 7202 film with IntegraScore® opening, which offers a more consistent and reliable means of opening versus tear tape.
"We are constantly seeking to improve the quality of our packaging without compromising the quality of our cheeses," says Errico Auricchio, president and founder of BelGioioso Cheese. The company produces and packages its high-quality cheeses in its Denmark and Pulaski, Wisconsin, facilities.
Curpolene 7202 film is a two-ply lamination that offers superior abuse resistance, machinability, barrier and aesthetics for non-respiring sliced cheeses like Provolone and Cheddar. Curpolene 7202 film is proven to deliver 75 percent fewer leakers and to develop fewer pinholes than competitive films, making it ideal to keep sliced cheese fresh and flavorful until all the slices are consumed.
The film features IntegraScore opening technology, which allows consumers to easily and completely remove the tamper-evident hood protecting the package's press-to-close zipper. IntegraScore technology utilizes a score in the outer, non-barrier layer of film so the package tears reliably in a straight line, eliminating consumer frustration with inconsistent opening systems. By using IntegraScore technology instead of tear tape, BelGioioso is able to reduce setup time and waste as well as increase machine speeds.
BelGioioso's portfolio of sliced cheese packages is flexo printed in five colors with the company's brand identity and nutritional information. Exceptional film clarity highlights the cheese's texture and color to enhance its appeal in the retail case. A press-to-close zipper allows storage in the original package to keep BelGioioso's brand in front of the consumer throughout the product's life.
