Oshkosh, Wisconsin – September 23, 2010 – Now processors of microwavable, ovenable and ready-to-eat foods have a sustainable new packaging choice: Encompass™ Lite 1™ CPET trays from Curwood. Offering up to 15% source reduction through process and material improvements, Lite 1™ trays are recyclable as #1 where infrastructure exists and certain applications could incorporate post-consumer recycled content. The trays feature excellent toughness at low temperatures and outstanding dimensional stability at high temperatures so they go easily from freezer to microwave or oven to table. Encompass™ Lite 1™ trays are ideal for frozen, refrigerated and shelf-stable meals, side dishes and desserts plus case-ready and processed meats, cheese trays and fresh bakery.

Lite 1™ trays allow unprecedented light-weighting, #1 recyclability and optional PCR content—plus exceptional freezer-to-oven performance—thanks to Curwood’s proprietary new material formulation and process.

Incorporating a proprietary new CPET technology, Lite 1™ trays are suitable for applications requiring temperatures from -40º to 400ºF. The trays are impact-modified to prevent breakage at low temperatures, and are FDA-approved for high-temperature use and bake-in applications. Featuring inherent oxygen barrier to protect freshness and flavor, the trays can be paired with Curwood’s market-leading rigid or flexible lidding for a complete package solution. Curwood’s CPET facilities are AIB-certified and the trays are Kosher-approved by the Orthodox Union.
