(OSHKOSH, Wisconsin) – New Jennie-O Turkey Store® oven-ready frozen turkeys come in a package that is as convenient as the product.

A carrier bag, made by Curwood, features a strong, comfortable two-hole handle, which makes picking up and carrying the whole bird easy. The functional side gussets allow packaging graphics to stand up and stand out in the freezer case.

Curwood applies its proprietary IntegraScore® opening feature vertically along one side of the package. Incorporating the IntegraScore feature enables customers to open the bag without a scissors or knife, thus preserving the integrity of the inner cook-in bag.

The package consists of a reverse-printed polyester layer, extrusion-laminated to a rigid, white sealant. Unlike the typical shrink bag package used for frozen turkeys, the Curwood bag is a flat, non-shrink bag that differentiates the product and allows consumers to easily read cooking instructions, nutrition facts and recipes.

The product is a pre-basted whole bird with giblets removed. Jennie-O Turkey Store offers two varieties of oven ready turkey products, including home style, and butter, herb and garlic. The new, pre-basted turkey product goes right from freezer to oven with no defrosting or cleaning required, eliminating consumer worries about proper defrosting or handling of raw meat.

Jennie-O Turkey Store introduced the new oven-ready line of turkeys in June 2004 at select retail stores nationwide. Since the introduction, sales are reported as exceptional.
