The Marketing Communications Dept. is proud to announce the following awards for Bemis and Curwood:

Curwood Named Supplier of the Year by the American Meat Institute (AMI)

One of the most coveted awards in Curwood's history – AMI's Supplier of the Year Award. This prestigious award was presented to Jim Ransom, President of Curwood, during the Chairman's Centennial Gala, held during the Worldwide Food Expo in Chicago, on October 28th.

“Our suppliers truly can – and do – play a strategic partnership role in business success,” said AMI Chairman Bill Buckner, corporate vice president, Cargill, Inc. & CEO, Cargill Meat Solutions Corp. “Curwood has been a key part of many successful partnerships.”

Curwood was given this award in recognition of a commitment to meat and poultry customers that has enhanced the industry's success.

Bemis Wins Two AmeriStar Awards

Bemis, in conjunction with General Mills, won two Institute of Packaging Professional (IoPP) AmeriStar Awards during Pack Expo Las Vegas on September 27th. The AmeriStar Package Awards honor the best packages of the year and represents a mark of distinction in the packaging industry.

The two packages that won awards are:

Pillsbury® Easy Open Cookie Dough Chub

General Mills' Pillsbury brand cookie dough recently introduced a new chub style package with Curwood's EZ Peel® opening feature. To access the product, the consumer simply separates the film – there is no need to use a scissors or knife to open the package.

Pillsbury® Perfect Portions® Modified Atmosphere Package

General Mills takes refrigerated biscuits out of the spiral-wound canister and places it into a new convenient Peel, Place and Bake® format. The Perfect Portions biscuits are packaged in pairs in easy-open pouches. This packaging allows the consumer to bake two biscuits at a time and keep the remaining product safely sealed until consumed.

Winning packages receive national publicity and are also put on display at the Packaging Summit in the spring of 2006.

Bemis Wins Annual Report Award

Bemis has won the medium-sized company Annual Report award for Agriculture, Paper and Packaging. The National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC) BetterInvesting honored 62 companies for outstanding annual reports in 28 industry categories. More than 300 volunteers evaluated reports submitted by 277 companies and judged the entries against those of similar sized companies within their respective industries.
